The Antioxidant Connection
Unstable oxygen molecules make us get older! The antioxidants in our colorful veggies and fruits counteract this and other aging factors
Which ones have the highest amount of antioxidants? Blueberries, strawberries, acai berries, beets and tomatoes. Plus you get a bonus! They’re also packed with compounds that fight cancer, brain degeneration and heart disease.
Experts say we need 5-9 servings a day of fruits and veggies to prevent many diseases and live a longer and happier life! The easiest and most convenient way to do this is with just one glass of fresh juice or a smoothie! Yes! Just one glass is more than a pound of fresh produce.
Go Nuts!
Smoothie machines and ‘slow’ juice appliances enable you to add most nuts to juices and smoothies. Nuts are rich in anti-aging and cholesterol-lowering nutrients. Almonds, pecans and walnuts are particularly rich in antioxidants. They also have compounds that boost the immune system and reduce bad cholesterol.
Moo Too!
I don’t add anything to my juice, but smoothies have a long tradition of added liquids such as milk or yogurt. Did you know that vitamin D-fortified dairy products are powerful anti-aging foods that strengthen our bones and reduce the risk of colon, breast and prostate cancers? Yogurt additionally aids digestion.
