Most of us experience dry skin at some point, especially those of us who live in cold and dry winter climates. You can heal it naturally without messy creams or prescription drugs with special fruits and vegetables! That’s right! Nutritional research has discovered that certain nutrients do wonders to fight dry skin. Plus here’s my favorite dry skin juice and smoothie recipe.
Spinach and Other Leafy Greens
All leafy greens but particularly spinach are rich in vitamins A, B, and E, plus iron, omega-4, folates and phytonutrients proven to help hydrate skin and keep it healthy. But greens are bitter so no need to use just greens for the most powerful dry-skin busting juice or smoothie! Read on to mix these greens with a surprising array of delicious tasting fruits and veggies!
Tropical fruits are highest in skin protecting nutrients such as vitamins A and C. These vitamins are referred to by some as the ‘fountain of youth’ vitamins because they help you look younger longer by keeping your skin firm and supple.
Orange and Yellow Veggies
Pumpkin, carrots, apricots, cantaloupe, red peppers, mangoes and papaya contain beta-carotene which is very powerful for fighting dry skin and protecting against harmful UV sunlight. Recent research has found additional compounds in pumpkin and butternut squash that reduce wrinkles!
They’re rich in vitamins C and E which help hydrate the skin. Vitamin E in particular has been found to protect skin from oxidative damage.
Along with Brazil nuts and broccoli, tomatoes contain selenium which is a powerful antioxidant. Research has found that a selenium-rich diet can reduce the risk of skin cancer, sun damage and age spots.

- Handful of Spinach
- 1 Avocado

Remove skin and seeds with one exception! Do not peel your carrots or you lose lots of extra nutrients!
